Relations
Mysore situated as it was with good harbour, produced such valuable, commercial
commodities as pepper, cardamom, sandalwood, ivory, silk, & tobacco and also traded in
Elephants which were in great demands outside. Tipu developed
commercial relations with a number of foreign countries such as Ottoman Empire, China,
Muscat, Pegu, Armenia, Jeddah, Ormuz and Basra but more important than these commercial
contacts were the political objectives. |
